Figure Painting Workshop
Description: This workshop will focus on painting a 3 dimensional figure in color working in the studio. Learn to develop an eye for proportion and color masses. Tuesday afternoon classes will feature short lecture and ongoing critique while students paint from the model. For Thursday afternoon labs the instructor will paint alongside students and will be available for critique. Model fee TBA. Supply list: Bring a selection of canvas or boards to paint on ranging in size from 16 x 20 to 20 x 30. A 12 x 24 or 15 x 30 proportion is good for a standing figure. You should be able to select the best dimension for the pose at hand. Some suggested Oil Paints: Titanium White, Cadmium Lemon, Cadmium Yellow, Cadmium Orange, Cadmium Red, Permanent Rose, Permanent Magenta, Dioxazine Violet, Ultramarine Blue, Cerulean Blue, Viridian, Mars Orange, Yellow Ochre, Burnt Sienna, Raw umber. Bring: vine charcoal, sketchbook to take notes, palette, pallette knife/painting knife, brushes, mineral spirits, linseed oil/stand oil (optional), paper towels/rags, and visor.
